Olive Garden

Garden redesign focused on enhancing accessibility, soft landscaping, and restoration of native flora. This project includes the revitalization and expansion of native and beneficial plant species to establish a more balanced, resilient, and self-sustaining ecosystem. Blends traditional flora with other suitable plants for mediterranean dry gardens, with some areas dedicated to fruit trees, vegetables and herb production.

Arroteia

A basic citrus grove that has been diversified into something even more edible, ecologically balanced, and useful for the family. Over 60 species of fruit trees and other edible plants, herbs, with seasonal and annual additions. From a monoculture, to an ecosystem bursting with life. There are also mediterranean and adapted plant borders being installed around the property to enhance the feel and bring in more biodiversity.

Hillhouse

A challenging rocky hillside where Mediterranean adapted plants prove their resilience. The local rock gives a beautiful backdrop to the dry garden plantations. It also includes a small vegetable garden, terraces for fruit producing trees, and a small pond to encourage the local fauna.

Quinta Bohemia

Jardim dos Poetas

Another re-design with the aims of narrowing pathways and creating more diversity. Corten steel edging was added, and shrub layers, aromatics and ground cover plants to enhance the feel and intimacy of the space while attracting pollinators, increasing the functions and uses of the entire space. It also includes a 300m2 forest garden, chicken coup/enclosure, and a vegetable garden.

Brejo

A recently opened retreat center, where we have started planting aromatic and dry landscapes surrounding the house and accommodations, while currently expanding and diversifying the existing fruit orchard. These current photos are less than one year since installation.

An eco-conscious accommodation retrofitted to become more circular and community oriented, edible plants among the native and ornamental beauty that already encapsulates the property. Includes a mini orchard, forest garden, and miyawaki-inspired pockets of edible plants. After 4 years, they're now seeing the fruits of their labour.
